Welcome to Leave Crosscheck

At Leave Crosscheck, we are dedicated to protecting the integrity of our elections and safeguarding every voter’s rights. Our mission is to highlight the risks of the Interstate Voter Registration Crosscheck program and advocate for secure, effective alternatives that ensure trust and fairness in voter registration systems.

Who We Are

We are a passionate group committed to voter rights, data security, and transparency in government practices. Through education, advocacy, and collaboration, we aim to inform the public about Crosscheck’s flaws and promote modern solutions like the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC), which prioritize voter privacy and accuracy.

Crosscheck was introduced in 2005 to identify duplicate voter registrations across states. While its intent was noble, the program has been plagued by significant issues, including:

Flawed Security: Crosscheck’s outdated systems exposed millions of voter records to potential breaches.
Inaccurate Data: The program’s unreliable matching criteria risked disenfranchising voters.
Financial Risk: Mismanagement of the program left Kansas taxpayers vulnerable to costly liabilities.
In 2017, investigative reporting and a Department of Homeland Security audit revealed these vulnerabilities, leading to its suspension following legal action by the ACLU of Kansas. Despite its dormancy, Crosscheck remains a latent risk unless formally retired.

Our Mission

At Leave Crosscheck, we work to ensure Crosscheck remains permanently inactive and advocate for its replacement with ERIC, a secure and efficient voter list maintenance system. Until that happens, we continue to push for:

Robust Data Protections: Implementing measures like data liability insurance and stricter rules for record analysis.
Transparency: Requiring detailed, public reporting on the program’s operations and outcomes.
Fair Cost Sharing: Distributing financial responsibilities among all participating states.

Why It Matters

A fair and secure voter registration system is the cornerstone of democracy. Programs like Crosscheck, which fail to protect voter privacy and accuracy, undermine trust in the electoral process. By moving to ERIC, we can establish a system that voters can rely on—one that ensures rights are preserved and data is safeguarded.

At Leave Crosscheck, we believe change is possible with informed citizens and collaborative efforts. Thank you for visiting our site and taking an interest in this critical issue. Together, we can advocate for secure and fair voter registration practices that uphold the principles of democracy.
